Dribbling Drills
- Crossover Drill: This drill helps you improve your ball-handling skills and your ability to create separation from your defender. To do this drill, start with the ball in your right hand. Dribble forward for a few steps, then cross the ball over to your left hand. Continue dribbling forward, alternating between your right and left hands.
- Behind-the-Back Dribble Drill: This drill helps you improve your ball-handling skills and your ability to protect the ball from your defender. To do this drill, start with the ball in your right hand. Dribble forward for a few steps, then bring the ball behind your back and continue dribbling with your left hand. Continue dribbling forward, alternating between your right and left hands.
- Speed Dribbling Drill: This drill helps you improve your speed and agility with the ball. To do this drill, start with the ball in your right hand. Dribble forward as fast as you can, changing directions quickly and frequently.
- Obstacle Course Drill: This drill helps you improve your ball-handling skills, your agility, and your coordination. Set up an obstacle course with cones or other objects. Dribble the ball through the obstacle course, weaving in and out of the cones.
Shooting Drills
- Free Throw Drill: This drill helps you improve your free throw shooting percentage. To do this drill, line up at the free throw line and take 10 free throws. Repeat this drill 3-5 times.
- Spot-Up Shooting Drill: This drill helps you improve your ability to shoot off the catch. To do this drill, set up a spot on the court and stand behind the three-point line. Have a partner pass you the ball and shoot it. Repeat this drill for 10-15 shots.
- Shooting off the Dribble Drill: This drill helps you improve your ability to shoot off the dribble. To do this drill, set up a spot on the court and start dribbling the ball. When you are ready, shoot the ball. Repeat this drill for 10-15 shots.
Defense Drills
- Man-to-Man Defense Drill: This drill helps you improve your man-to-man defensive skills. To do this drill, line up on opposite sides of the court with a partner. One player is the offensive player and the other player is the defensive player. The offensive player tries to dribble past the defensive player and score. The defensive player tries to stay in front of the offensive player and prevent them from scoring.
- Zone Defense Drill: This drill helps you improve your zone defense skills. To do this drill, divide your team into two teams. One team is the offensive team and the other team is the defensive team. The offensive team tries to score by passing the ball around and shooting it. The defensive team tries to prevent the offensive team from scoring by guarding the different areas of the court.
Rebounding Drills
- Box Out Drill: This drill helps you improve your rebounding skills. To do this drill, line up in two lines on opposite sides of the court. One line is the offensive line and the other line is the defensive line. The offensive line tries to rebound the ball and the defensive line tries to box out the offensive players.
- Jump Ball Drill: This drill helps you improve your jumping ability and your ability to box out opponents. To do this drill, line up in two lines on opposite sides of the court. One player from each line stands at the center circle and jumps for the ball. The player who gets the ball scores a point for their team.
